Wellesley is a midsized, sought after town with one of the highest median household incomes in Massachusetts. Historically, the community was originally part of Dedham before becoming part of Needham before residents eventually voted in the 1800’s to officially secede and form their own community.
Wellesley is one of the most educated communities in the country, hosting one of the largest concentrations of advanced degrees as well as a well regarded public school system. In 2007 Wellesley High School was ranked the 70th best public high school in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.
Residents of Wellesley enjoy easy access to Boston via the MBTA’s Commuter Rail service, ample green space, trails and parks. It is also home to a rapidly growing Green Power movement. Residents have the option to opt into a renewable energy program sponsored by Wellesley Municipal Light Plant. The community also is attempting to aggressively reduce it’s carbon footprint, offers an extensive recycling program and is making great strides to protect the natural resources within the town.
